Conference Proceedings: Good Laugh, Bad Laugh, Ugly Laugh, My Laugh
Timing counts when telling a joke. And as a joke is a time bomb, one punch line after getting together at the beginning of March for the Laughter conference at the Western, we have finally decided that a publication may not be a bad idea – it may in fact be a good idea, but definitely, we hope, not an ugly one. This is the plan: to publish online your submissions; that is, extended versions of your conference presentations.
We will consider the conference proceedings as pre-publications, which means that you keep the authorship rights and are free to submit versions of your own work to journals, or to post it in your blog. However, we do expect the best quality possible because the portal website we will be using, Scholarship@Western, is an online academic repository supported by the Western University library system. All works published through Scholarship@Western are searchable through Google Scholar.
In order to submit your presentation, open http://ir.lib.uwo.ca/mllgradconference/. Then, at the left side, under the ‘Author Corner’ section, click on ‘Submit Event’. Once there, fill out the information: Event title (title of your presentation), Presenter information (your name), Date and time of the presentation (if you still remember), Disciplines (that your presentation touched on), Description (brief!), Comments (if you want to add how cool it was to present your paper), Full text of presentation (the file with the paper), Additional files (if you want to include slides and all that jazz). After so much work, click on Submit.
Please send us your contributions by October 15, 2013. The conference organizers will review the submissions and get back to you quickly. We plan to have the conference proceedings ready in December 2013.
We hope to receive as many submissions as possible, and to see you next year at Western!
On behalf of the conference organizing team,
